The Tide Table …

Posted: May 10, 2011 in Liverpool FC

The tide turns quickly on the Mersey and throughout the North West – here’s the league table showing only games played since Liverpool lost at Bloomfield Road in mid-January. That was the day that Blackpool did the double over us for the first time in 64 years – and the last time they did the double over us, we won the league title.

It’s a table that certainly tells the story of why Kenny Dalglish will be signing a permanent 3-year contract this week. Just a pity that hapless old Woy left us with so far to catch up, and a great pity that Blackpool FC’s fortunes have swung so much since that day, too – they’ve won just once in the fifteen games over four months since they beat us and overtook us in the table.  The table is given in points per game (PPG) to be fair on teams that have played fewer games … but in fact we’d be top if it was just done on on points and goal diffrence, anyway.
